Daniel Ligorio is considered by critics and audience as one of the most promising young pianists on the Spanish national scene. The famous composer Xavier Montsalvatge once quoted on his concerto at the National Auditorium with the Spanish Radio Television Orchestra, “The Art of Daniel Ligorio piano does not deceive, it is above all, authentic”; and the opinion expressed by music critic Xavier Cester was “Since the unforgettable Claudio Arrau´s visit there has not been heard in Barcelona a piano emperor equally extraordinary“, referring to Ligorio’s interpretation of Beethoven’s Concerto No. 5. Recently, he has important projects such as the recording of the concerto for piano and orchestra by Joaquin Rodrigo with the Naxos label, the international premiere of the concerto for two pianos and orchestra Juventus by Anton Garcia Abril, the recording of the complete piano works by Manuel de Falla, the complete piano trios by Turina interpreted by Daniel Ligorio with The Trio Arriaga, and a solo album on the piano works by George Gershwin with Warner Music.

He had received many rewards and prizes, among which includes The National Youth Music Competition of Spain, The Infanta Cristina, The Yamaha Foundation, The Beethoven Piano Kendall Taylor Prize, The Quilter piano competition, The Hopkinson Gold Medal and Sydney & Peggy Shimmin Piano Prize.

Daniel Ligorio is currently preparing for Naxos the recording of the Thomas Breton trios and the quintets by Conrado del Campo, and a concert tour promoting his latest album with the recordings of the complete piano works by Manuel de Falla.

Review

"Beautifully shaped and phrased performances, with the piano providing a sensitive but never overpowering sound. Highly recommended."
