Teatro alla Scala, hailed as “the world’s opera centre”, embarked on an unprecedented tour in China on October 18-24 with the full line-up of more than 250 people, and mounted Mozart’s two classic works – La Finta Gardiniera and The Magic Flute (Asia premiere production). Young actors and actresses from Teatro alla Scala Academy also performed some of the roles in The Magic Flute.

While performing at the newly-built Opera House of Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Teatro alla Scala adopted amazing “one stage, two sets” – a technology which had been rarely seen in China, hence such kind of “stage on and off” conjured by the centuries-old opera company in its epic production has drawn much media attention.
