| Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra Shows Its Potential in Europe |
From 25th July to 12th Aug, Wu Promotion successfully brought the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra to Lisbon, Riva del Garda, Berlin and Prague. From 25th July to 12th Aug, Wu Promotion successfully brought the Macau Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) to Lisbon (Portugal), Riva del Garda (Italy), Berlin (Germany) and Prague (Czech Republic). During their European tour, MYSO took part in three significant music festivals in Europe: Festival ao Largo 2010, Riva del Garda Music Festival and Youth Euro Classical. Under the baton of Vejga Jardim, the orchestra cooperated with awarded Chinese pianist, Lam Leng-leng and impressed European audiences by a series of warm and dynamic performances.
MYSO was founded in 1997 by a group of music teachers and former players from the Macao Chamber Orchestra. Since its inception, the orchestra has given more than hundred public performances and strives to keep its initial objectives: to provide orchestral training and performing opportunities for the local youth, exchange their experiences, cultivate and promote their interests, as well as the standard in music appreciation and performance, therefore giving opportunity to develop their musical talents.
In Lisbon, MYSO was arranged as the last troupe to perform in the Festival ao Largo 2010. This open-air concert attracted more than 2,000 people. Before the concert, the conductor, Vejga Jardim introduced his orchestra and the programme in fluent Portuguese to audiences In Italy, MYSO performed next to the beautiful river, Riva del Garda. The President of Riva del Garda Music Association, Maria Luisa Crosina, Mayor Sen. Claudio Molinari and Yuan Cuiming from Fondazione Italia Cina attended this concert. In Berlin, MYSO was honored to be invited to Youth Euro Classical, one of the most important youth musician festivals in the world. The special guests who attended the Berlin concert included the Minister Counsellor for Culture in Germany, Li Xin and the Director of Macau Labour Affairs Bureau, Sun Jiaxiong. The cooperation between MYSO and Prague Philharmonic Orchestra became the highlight of the wholetour. The Ambassador of China to Czech Republic, Huo Yuzhen, gave highly praise to MYSO when she accepted interviews from the journalists.
As a young orchestra, MYSO showed their technology and their flexibility in Joly Braga Santos' masterpiece, Satccoto Brillante, and a special understanding in selecting two brilliant Chinese pieces, The Insect World II and the Reflection of the Moon in the Er-Quan Spring, for String orchestra. It shows the prosperous future and potential of this young, energetic orchestra. |
