Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici leads the Münchner Virtuosen, Berlin München Wien Philharmonic Octet and other chamber ensembles and symphony orchestras in performances, worldwide tours and recording projects. A long-time First Concertmaster of the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, the charismatic violinist has appeared with the Mariinsky Stradivarius Ensemble, NHK Symphony Orchestra and other major orchestras around the world. His masterclasses for concertmaster auditions are in great demand.

Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici completed his violin studies with Stefan Gheorghiu; after finishing his studies, he moved with his family to Israel. He was principal concert master of the Munich Philharmonic from 1992 to 2022. Prior to this, he held the same position with the orchestra of the Finnish State Opera in Helsinki. He has appeared as soloist together with such eminent conductors as Sergiu Celibidache, Christian Thielemann, Paavo Järvi, Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta and Valery Gergiev. Video and CD recordings of many of these concerts have been released.

After Sergiu Celibidache's passing in 1996, Mr. Nasturica-Herschcowici founded the Trio Celibidache with which he has gone on numerous tours at home and abroad. In 2000 Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici joined the Berlin Philharmonic Octet as first violinist. He has performed as a member, concert master and soloist with a large number of Berlin Philharmonic ensembles such as the Philharmonic Virtuosos of Berlin, the Sextet of the Berlin Philharmonic as well as the Sinfonietta Berlin. In 2012 he founded the Philharmonic Octet Berlin München Wien, bringing together concertmasters and soloist members of the Berlin Philharmonic, Vienna Philharmonic and Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.

From 2004 until 2020 he was the conductor and soloist of the Munich Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, now Münchner Virtuosen, with which he has performed a number of concertos, among others with Hélène Grimaud, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Rudolf Buchbinder, Nikolaj Znaider and David Fray and has been invited to make international guest appearances. He recorded the Bach Piano Concerto with the Munich Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra and went on a tour of Germany, together with Martin Stadtfeld.

In 2013 Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici was appointed conductor and soloist of the Stradivarius Ensemble of the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg, where he frequently performs concerts with famous artists and at well known festivals such as Stars of the White Nights Festival in St Petersburg. He performed the Brahms Double Concerto in Munich, Madrid and Barcelona together with Daniel Müller-Schott, conducted by Lorin Maazel.

Mr. Nastruica-Herschcowici is a much sought-after leader of masterclasses and courses for concertmaster auditions around the world. In 2004 Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici was made professor at the Academy of Music in San Sebastián. He is also a guest professor at the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music in Tokyo since 2011.
