From 6 to 18 October 2023, Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev comes to China on tour, showcasing a pianist figure of the new millennium.

Malofeev rose to international fame for winning the International Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians in 2014. Only 13 years old at the time, he not only showed a high degree of technical accuracy and astonishing maturity, but also exhibited incredible composure. His crystal clear voice and perfect balance revealed his extraordinary ability. Malofeev quickly established himself as one of the most outstanding pianists of his time.

In addition to winning 1st prize at the Tchaikovsky Competition for Young Musicians, he has won numerous awards and prizes at international competitions and festivals, including the Grand Prix of the I International Competition for Young Pianists Grand Piano Competition, the Premio Giovane Talento Musicale dell’anno in 2017 and Best Young Musician of 2017. It was also in 2017, Alexander became the first Young Yamaha Artist.

Maestro Riccardo Chailly said of the pianist: “I first heard Malofeev when Valery Gergiev performed with him at the Teatro alla Scala three years ago.At only 14 years old at the time, his talent amazed me. For he was more than a child prodigy: he is very young, but already possesses depth and technical abilities, as well as musicality and memorability. It was clear that he became an excellent interpreter of the 3rd Concerto of Rachmaninov, which is a problem for many pianists around the world.” (Corriere della Sera, October 2019)
