Under the baton of maestro Christian Thielemann, the orchestra delivered a commanding and meticulously structured performance of Bruckner’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major, marking the finale of this year’s tour. From 21 to 27 November, the tour showcased two all-German-Austrian programmes: Schumann’s Symphony No. 3 in E-flat Major,Brahms’s Symphony No. 4 in E Minor and Bruckner’s monumental Symphony No. 5 in B-flat Major. With its legendary “Golden Sound,” the Vienna Philharmonic offered Chinese audiences a profound and unforgettable musical experience. The encore—The Blue Danube Waltz—brought the evening to a festive close, echoing the spirit of Vienna’s iconic New Year’s Concert.
