The 26th Grand Chinese New Year Concert successfully ended its European tour at Budapest Mupa on Feb 28th!

The 26th Grand Chinese New Year Concert successfully ended its European tour at Budapest Mupa on Feb 28th! During this tour, the teams travelled through 6 countries and 11 cities within 25 days, bringing about 20k audiences touching Chinese traditional music. The representative contemporary Chinese repertoires include “Spring Festival Overture”, “A Va Mountain”, and “A Pleasant Night”, etc. The performances brought essences of Chinese traditions, inviting audiences to celebrate Chinese Lunar New Year together. The concert continues the chapter of China-Europe communication through the link of Chinese traditional music. Concerts ended successfully with audiences’ applause, and European audiences immersively experienced the power of Chinese folk music!

This year’s Chinese New Year Concert was performed by China National Traditional Orchestra (CNTO), Shanghai Chinese Orchestra, and Wuxi Traditional Chinese Orchestra. CNTO and Shanghai Chinese Orchestra were conducted by music director Feng Tang, principal conductor Sha Liu, and world-known conductor Muhai Tang, visiting National Auditorium of Music in Madrid, Opera de Berlioz, La Seine Musicale, and Victoria Hall in Geneva.

Wuxi Traditional Chinese Orchestra was conducted by Chinese conductor Peng Sun, who is the music director as well as principal conductor of the orchestra, visiting Centre for Fine Arts-Bozar, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Gut Varrel, Dusseldorf Tonhalle, Tiroler Festspiele Erl, Wien Konzerthaus, and finally ended the tour at Budapest Mupa.
