Born in Chur(Switzerland) and studied with Hans Schicker at the Music Academy in Zurich, in Prof. Karl Engel's masterclass in Berne and with Mieczyslaw Horczowsky in Lucerne.

He gained many first prizes at different competitions such as Jecklin competition, Landolt and University Prize Zurich,Prix Maurice Sandoz .

He has performed as soloist and in chamber music all over Europe and in Japan, Korea, Australia and USA and was invited to several international festivals.

Karl-Andreas Kolly played with the Tonhalle Orchesttra Zurich,the Basle and the Berne Symphony orchestras,the Vienna Jeunesse,the Slovak Radio Symphony orchestra and many others.

On more than 70 compact discs he has recorded rarities such as the piano concertos of Skrjabin,Glazunov ,dÀlbert and Franz Schmidt,but also a lot of solo works of Liszt, Schumann ,Chopin (complete Ballades, Etudes, Nocturnes, Polonaises) and J.S.Bach (Goldberg-Variations).

Karl-Andreas Kolly is currently a professor at the University of Fine Arts Zurich.
