From the 12th – 20th August, 2011, Spanish pianist Eduardo Fernández was invited by Wu Promotion, to give his first series of concerts in China. He successfully performed solo recitals in Shanghai, Yangzhou and Guangzhou. Eduardo Fernández is introduced by international critics as the 'most promising young Spanish pianist'. He has performed extensively and with great success at all the main concert halls in his native Spain, as well as throughout Europe and South America. He has also appeared at prestigious international festivals in Italy, France and Switzerland. His interpretation of Spanish music has been given praise and recognition when he won the Extraordinary Prize of the Fundación Guerrero and the Manuel de Falla Award in Granada. During Fernández' China tour, his performance technique helped him to vividly embody the music, especially in Suite Iberia, where traditional Spanish folk music is used as the basis of the composition. This work is a masterpiece of I. Albeniz and is a gorgeous representation of Spanish culture. When Eduardo performs, the melancholic temperament of this historical music is portrayed perfectly to the audience. "I hope that the interpretation can make the audience feel the brilliant colors of Iberian, and the glittering Spanish style!" Eduardo said confidently. In addition, he played the famous excerpt works of Brahms and Schumann. This China Tour left a deep impression for Eduardo. He said that it is different from in Europe where mainly the elderly enjoy classical music in concert halls. In China, I am happy to see that Chinese children also come to listen to classical music, because in 15 years, they will become the majority of the appreciating crowd. |
