From May 18th to June 3rd, the Luisa Sello & Bruno Canino Duo successfully held ten concerts in seven cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Zhaoqing, Qingdao, Chengdu and Dalian. Luisa Sello & Bruno Canino Duo's China tour was especially successful as they were welcomed by a full house at almost every venue. Due to the performances' popularity, the tickets were difficult to acquire at certain venues. They brought compositions from both the East and the West like Rigoletto Fantasy op. 40 n. 3 arranged by Raffaele Galli, 'Per Elisa' by L. van Beethoven, Luisa Sello's own creation Echi della Mongolia, December Chrysanthemum op. 52 by Ye Xiaogang and traditional Chinese songs such as Jasmine Flower. Audiences were moved by their exquisite performance and harmonious cooperation. In addition, the artists' aesthetic performance style like wearing the Venetian mask brought audiences an entirely new feeling. Besides their exquisite interpretation of the songs, these two artists showed their deep affection for Chinese audiences by interacting and communicating with them, bringing warm applause and praise.
After 13 years, the famous Italian pianist Bruno Canino got the opportunity to visit China again. On the other hand, this is the 14th time that Luisa Sello has visited China. They both showed their deep affection for Chinese culture and during the performance, Luisa Sello even tried to communicate with audiences in Chinese. The fragments of sentences she spoke showed her deep emotion and enthusiasm for the Chinese audience. The encore was also very exciting. Luisa Sello started to perform her original piece Wishing You Happiness in Italian, then incorporated the Chinese lyrics "wishing you happiness" into the song, which brought the entire show to an exciting atmosphere. The performance closed with the audience singing passionately along to the last song of the encore, The Moon Represents My Heart.
Besides their concert tour, their performances held at multiple "master classes" were equally as splendid. They communicated with students and shared their past experiences in relation to their artistic life. After their performance at the Confucius International School of Qingdao, students took turns to perform on the stage. Afterwards, they were given the precious opportunity of having one on one tutoring from Sello and Canino and learned many valuable lessons. Luisa Sello and Bruno Canino were excited and surprised by the level of Chinese music education as they witnessed young children around 10 years of age expertly perform famous compositions by Beethoven and Chopin. |
