On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relation between China and Germany, the National Youth Orchestra of Germany came to China for their first time. Under the baton of Mario Venzago, the orchestra gave five excellent concerts in Beijing, Shanghai, Zhengzhou and Macau during July 19th to July 28th.

The National Youth Orchestra of Germany is a leader in the field of youth orchestra work in the world, representing Germany's rich musical culture both at home and abroad. These future top musicians performed Mahler's Symphony No. 2, Schumann's Cello Concerto, Ravel's Daphnis et Chloe Suite No. 2 and so on, representing their great interpretation of master pieces and deep understanding of music. Their incredible and skillful performance exceeds their age. The National Youth Orchestra of Germany played Jasmine Flower and Unter Donner und Blitz for the encore, during which the audiences clapped their hands following the rhythm of the music. The performance, ending in a great and warm atmosphere, was a great success.

Award-winning cellist Nicolas Altstaedt won the hearts of music fans with his brilliant skills and poetic interpretation of the Cello Concerto. Altstaedt was one of Boris Pergamenschikow's last students in Berlin. He was granted a wide array of accolades and cooperated with prestigious international orchestras, such as the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra.

During the concert in the National Center for the Performing Arts, conductor Mario Venzago introduced the background information before the performances, to help the audiences understand the music in a deeper way. In Macau, the National Youth Orchestra of Germany performed together with Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra. Although they came from different countries and have a different cultural background, they share the same passion for music.

The quality of their performance was strengthened by their choice of the first-class celesta from Schiedmayer, nowadays the only company in the world manufacturing the Celesta as invented by Victor Mustel.
