The excellent Montreal ensemble Trio Hochelaga makes a mission of rediscovering music that has slipped through the cracks, and these two pieces by Belgian-born composer Guillaume Lekeu are wonderful finds.——Elissa Poole – The Globe and Mail, Canada

A fixture on both the Montreal and international musical scenes for fifteen years, the Trio Hochelaga has earned a stellar reputation. The ensemble is known for its original programming, deft ensemble work and the poignant intensity of its performances. Its broad repertoire, which ranges from the classical period to today, shows a strong interest in bringing to light little-known and neglected musical treasures.

Named after an early Iroquois settlement on the Island of Montreal, the trio has toured extensively throughout Canada, Great Britain, France, Italy, the United States, Bermuda, Japan, China and Taiwan. Highpoints among their many concerts include their performance of Beethoven’s Triple Concerto with the Tokyo New City Orchestra at Sumida Triphony Hall in Tokyo, their appearance at Wigmore Hall in London and their debut in Venice at the Palazetto Bru Zane, a venue that promotes French Romantic music.

The Trio Hochelaga presents an annual series of concerts at the Conservatoire de musique de Montréal, where it is in residence. The ensemble gratefully acknowledges the ongoing support of the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec.
