Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra's Asia-Pacific Tour finalizes successfully

From August 6th to 13th, Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra performed in Sydney, Jakarta and Singapore on their 2017 Asia-Pacific Tour.

From August 6th to 13th, Guangzhou Symphony Youth Orchestra performed in Sydney, Jakarta and Singapore on their 2017 Asia-Pacific Tour. A programme with western and eastern features gained enthusiastic applause from the local audience. The tour not only showed the artistic accomplishment of Chinese teenagers to the world, but also built a bridge for cultural exchanges through communications with local orchestra.

GSYO carefully designed its programme for overseas audience: Passacaglia: Secret of Wind and Birds composed by the well-known composer and conductor Tan Dun, Reflet d'un temps disparu, concerto for cello and orchestra composed by composer Chen Qigang (performed by famous cellist Wang Jian and the orchestra), and the commissioned work of GSYO in 2013, Duo for Sheng, Cello and Orchestra composed by Zhao Lin.

On August 6th, under the baton of conductor Huan Jing , 103 young musicians of GSYO performed in Sydney Town Hall, which is about to celebrate its 150th anniversary. Mr. Guo Yaowen, representative of Sydney Mayor and a member of Sydney City Council, Mr. Zhao Li, Director of China Cultural Centre in Sydney attended to the concert. On August 11th, GSYO enjoyed a full house in the Aula Simfonia Jakarta. In response to cheers and applause from nearly 1000 spectators, the orchestra gave multiple encores along with conductor Huan Jing. On August 13th, the orchestra finalized the tour at Victoria Concert Hall, Singapore.

During this Asia-Pacific Tour, young musicians from GSYO not only performed grand symphonic concerts, but also held small-scale lecture concerts, showing the rapid development and great new spirits of Chinese orchestras composed of new generations. Also, it is Wu Promotion’s mission and purpose to take talented young Chinese musicians abroad in order to expand their artistic and cultural horizons, while allowing for diversified opportunities on world stages.
