From 29 August to 5 September, under the support of Chongqing Grand Theatre, Guangzhou Xinghai Concert Hall, Shenzhen Concert Hall, National Centre for the Performing Arts as well as Shanghai Oriental Art Centre, Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra worked with the world renowned pianist Yundi on their 2017 China Tour. The tour marks a profound commemorative significance for the 100th anniversary of the independence of Poland. Many thanks to The Polish Embassy in Beijing and Adam Mickiewicz Institute for their generously support. It is noteworthy that this time Yundi not only performed as a pianist, but also as a conductor for the first time in his career. Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra was the one that Yundi cooperated with when he received the first prize at the XIV Chopin Piano Competition. The music played by both the orchestra and the individual is recognized as the most authoritative interpretation of Chopin’s music. Joining the forces together, they fascinated and impressed the Chinese audiences with the tacit understanding of Chopin’s work.
