From July 27 to August 3, China Philharmonic Orchestra, led by their artistic director and chief conductor Long Yu and president Nan Li, brought to Moscow and St Petersburg three exceptional musical works that were witnessed for almost 4.000 people.

The value of the tour programme not only proved the excellent performance skills of the orchestra but also fully demonstrated the fusion of symphony and Chinese tradition. The resident composer Zou Ye brought the rearranged version of The Drunken Concubine, Concerto for violin and orchestra in e minor, Op.64 by Mendelssohn and Symphony No.5 in D minor, Op. 47 by Dmitri Shostakovich. As a symbolic gift, The Sacred War, one of the most famous Soviet songs of last century, was presented to the Russian audience.
