From 19 to 27 March 2022, NCPAO, one of China’s leading orchestras, will embark on a China tour under the baton of LÜ Jia with Pipa player ZHANG Hongyan, visiting Shenzhen Concert Hall, Xinghai Concert Hall, Shanghai Oriental Art Center, Jiangsu Center for the Performing Arts and Suzhou Bay Grand Theatre. With the support of the five organizers and Wu Promotion, six concerts will be performed, presenting Chinese national sounds as well as German and Austrian classic pieces, like the Dvorak Symphony No. 9, which is one of the plays represented at the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. The full 19 classical music works played during the presentation of the athletes at the opening ceremony were recorded by NCPAO. The NCPAO with its musical director Lu Jia, is the resident orchestra of NCPA, and has performed over 60 opera productions in such venue. On their symphonic side, they present performances throughout the full-year season, impressing the audience with their unique vitality. The Orchestra has cooperated with world-renowned maestros and artists including Lorin Maazel, Zubin Mehta, Christoph Eschenbach, Valery Gergiev, Myung-Whun Chung, Lang Lang, Wang Jian, and Kyung-Wha Chung, among others. Hailed as “a brilliant and first-class orchestra”, it has toured the United States, Canada, Germany, Korea, Singapore, Australia, and the United Arab Emirates, to name a few. With audiences and fans across the country eagerly awaiting its second domestic tour, the NCPA Orchestra looks forward to starting the China tour in March 2022. The orchestra, together with its Music Director Lu Jia, will once again bring the original artistic quality, character, and elegance of the NCPA to the cities with its surging energy and virtuosity: revisiting the pinnacle of German and Austrian music composition in the works of Wagner and Bruckner, and enjoying the charm of Eastern and Western music in the new contemporary works by Zhao Jiping and Dvorak's representative symphonies. |
