| Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir Chants for Spring and Summer |
Wu Promotion presented the vocal sounds of one of Europe's oldest musical traditions by performances of the Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir.
From 19th through 29th of June, Wu Promotion presented Chinese audiences the vocal sounds of one of Europe's oldest musical traditions by performances of the Copenhagen Royal Chapel Choir. At the last stop, the choir performed on Danish Day at World Expo 2010 Shanghai. Danish Crown Prince, Frederik was present at this highly anticipated National Day celebration. Founded in 1924 by Mogens Wöldike, the choir quickly developed into a full-time institution with the boys receiving their general education alongside a full musical and vocal training in SANKT ANNÆ GYMNASIUM, the Copenhagen Municipal Choir School. Since 1959, the choir has been resident at Copenhagen Cathedral and as part of its duties performs at state occasions and during royal visits abroad. Since Ebbe Munk became director of the choir in 1991 they have undertaken concerts in leading concert halls, cathedrals and festivals all over the world. CRCC was greatly honoured to play a major musical part at the wedding of their Royal Highnesses the Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark and Crown Princess Mary in Copenhagen Cathedral in 2004 and at the christening of their firstborn, HRH Prince Christian in 2005 and second child HRH Princess Isabella in 2007. Besides the repertoire, CRCC specially prepared a Chinese folk song, Chong'er Fei, during this visit. Kong Lingtao, the president of Qingdao Oxford International College delightfully remarked, “CRCC is one of the top choirs in the world. I am so excited they will perform a Chinese song during this China tour."Considering the different acoustic effects in each theater, CRCC performed differently in each concert. At National Centre for the Performing Arts, CRCC walked into auditorium. They stood and sang next to audiences. The audiences were amazingly surrounded by their pure and clear voices. Instead of singing on the stage, in Tianjin Concert Hall, all of the boys started singing in the foyer when they were walking onto the stage. When CRCC visited Qingdao Oxford International College, the students threw roses at their bus. When CRCC arrived in Qingdao airport, they received warm regards from local people. In return for this, CRCC improvised one song in the arrival terminal under the conduction of Ebbe Munk. All of the people in the arrival terminal were attracted by their natural and beautiful voices. The impromptu performance attracted a round of passengers turned audience and rounds of applause. Despite Wu Promotion having toured CRCC in five cities- Beijing, Tianjin, Qingdao, Guangzhou and Shanghai; many enthusiastic fans wish CRCC could perform more shows in each city. The fans are all already looking forward to CRCC's next China tour. |
