The Chinese audience came cross the New Year Concert in Vienna's Golden Hall for the first time in 1987 through television broadcast. The concert was well appreciated in China and the European tradition quickly took off throughout the country. This year, Wu Promotion is delighted to present the Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra, an innovative and influential orchestra from Belgium. From 26th December, 2010 to 5th January 2011, the orchestra will tour Macau, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Zhuhai, Zhougshan, Zhaoqing, Sihui and finally arrive at the Forbidden City Concert Hall in Beijing.

Martyn Brabbins is very much in demand as a conductor of contemporary music. His marked interest in the unknown romantic repertory is a characteristic of his musical curiosity. In celebration of New Year 2011, under the baton of Martyn Brabbins, The Royal Flemish Philharmonic Orchestra will open with Chinese composer Huanzhi Li’s Spring Festival Overture, followed by the masterpiece From the New World of Dvorák which expresses thoroughly the loneliness of an outcast during his trip from the Czech Republic to the United States. At the second half of the concert, gentle and cheerful pieces by Strauss, is including Leichtes Blut. Polka schnell and Waltz will inevitably reach its peak. Other classics such as Kaiser-Walzer, Fruehlingsstimmen, Walzer and the Blue Danube, Waltz will also accompany the audience through this unforgettable New Year. Ending with Radetzky Marsc, the concert closes in its traditional manner.
