Austrian Musicians Tour in China to Celebrate 40 Years of Chinese-Austrian Diplomatic Relations |
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Austria and China.
In celebration of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Austria and China, the Austrian Embassy in Beijing and the Consulate General in Shanghai organized and presented "Aodili – The Sounds of Music" – A Musical Journey from Mozart to Pop, a concert tour which was presented free to Chinese audiences in Beijing and Shanghai from May 5th through May 10th, 2011. "We are very proud to bring some of Austria's most distinguished artists to China. This will simply be a stunning birthday party, full of music," said the Austrian Ambassador to China, H.E. Dr. Martin Sajdik.
The concert tour featured a selection of top tier Austrian musicians and performers, from classical, folk and traditional to pop music. Included in the lineup was: pianist Matthias Fletzberger, violinist Lidia Baich, folk and traditional music groups, Rauhnacht and Altausseer Seitlpfeifer, as well as pop stars G-Neila & Manix and Valerie. The performances took place at many well-known venues across the two cities, including: the Central Conservatory of Music; University of Science & Technology, Beijing; Yu Gong Yi Shan; Shanghai Oriental Arts Center; Shanghai Times Square; Fudan University; Hyatt on the Bund; Mao Live House; Kento's Live House; and Brown Sugar.
An invitation only Gala Concert was held at the National Centre for the performing Arts in Beijing on May 6, 2011, during which all the Austrian musicians gave performances. Mr. Werner Faymann, the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, and Mrs. Uyunqimuge, the Vice President of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, attended the Concert and addressed the audience.
