Invited by Wu Promotion, the National Youth Orchestra of Germany (Bundesjugendorchester) toured in China once again. Since their first China tour in 2012, it is the second time this well known youth orchestra cooperated with Wu Promotion. During the period of July 23rd- August 7th 2016, under the baton of Patrick Lange, former Principle Conductor of KomischeOper Berlin, the orchestra staged 7 concerts featuring one of the most compelling young pianists of these days, Herbert Schuch. The National Youth Orchestra of Germany, visited this time both familiar cities (Beijing, Shanghai and Macao) as well as some new cities (Jinan, Wuhan, Chongqing, Guangzhou).
The tour opened with a wonderful concert in NCPA, Beijing, and as this was their second time to perform in this venue, they already had many fans in Beijing, and Patrick Lange had to return to the stage several times to conduct three encores. In Shanghai, Ulrich Knörzer, Chairman of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra, attended the performance with his family.
On August 6th, just as during their tour in 2012, the National Youth Orchestra of Germany staged a concert together with the Macao Youth Orchestra. While last time the theme of the joint-concert was “the sound of Germany and Austria”this time they staged Mendelssohn’s “Symphony No.4, “Italy”.
As, in the words of National Youth Orchestra of Germany, “Elephants stand for Massive work” they gave Wu Promotion’s tour managers, a stuffed elephant (we named him Ollie) to thank them for the hard work and the good care.
